We can offer a number of different glazing solutions depending on your requirements. Most commonly used until now is standard picture glass, which we can supply in either smooth or diffused reflection surfaces. For safety critical installations we can also supply a plastic alternative.
Alongside the standard glasses we now also supply specialist art glass, which is incredibly clear, has low reflectance, and protects the artwork from UV radiation. From a number of alternatives on the market we have chosen Schott Mirogard+® as we feel it offers the best blend of high performance across a number of attributes with value for money.
The picture above shows our glass demonstrator at the gallery. On the left is standard picture glass, on the right diffused reflection glass, and in the centre panel Schott Mirogard+®.
You will see that the standard glass suffers from reflection and glare if placed in the wrong postion, and the diffused reflection glass gives a slight “milky” appearance to the artwork. By contrast, the Schott Mirogard+® glass gives a very clear view of the artwork with minimal reflection or colour shift. The effect is difficult to reproduce in a photograph like this, but is quite remarkable when you see the real thing.
